Mike Conner started light-tackle fishing in Florida in 1963 and expanded to fly fishing in 1971 and has since fished in 10 U.S. coastal states, The Bahamas and Central America. A licensed light-tackle and fly fishing charter guide since the early 90s, Mike served as editor of Shallow Water Angler magazine for seven years and managing editor of Florida Sportsman magazine for 14 years. He has written and photographed hundreds of inshore and near-shore salt water and freshwater fishing feature stories, and wrote regular columns on fly fishing and fly tying. This Florida Outdoor Writers Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is a contract-royalty fly tier for Umpqua Feather Merchants, and is equally adept with spinning, fly, baitcasting and conventional surf-fishing tackle.  Look for Mike’s column, HELM, in every iPad digital edition of Fly & Light Tackle Angler Magazine coming soon.
